The Last Post for March 2023 ?!!

Wow!  Good morning.. but what happened to March??? lol  Do you feel this way too?

In some ways ... with the crazy weather the last month or so... I'm glad to see it go... but how did it happen so quickly???

What is your favorite thing about Spring/Autumn?

I personally LOVE Spring in the USA now for sleeping with windows open when it won't get so cold!  I also love seeing fresh flowers popping all around!

We are rolling closer to listing our cabin.  We found (WE THINK ANYWAY.. LOL) a realtor who will represent us well.  We are looking at mid April... right after Easter when people will be getting antsy to explore the area we live in... it is huge to hike in the mountains and have vacation homes in this area... so we shall see!

The quilt for Rick I was building wound up not working out as nicely as I had imagined... I have chatted in depth with my inner circle but I know my problems and have cried it out and am ready to move forward with this issue now... new quilt ... the PATTERN figured out.... no triangle points to chop off...

and the recipe for THIS quilt block was found on Pinterest by my bestie and originally shown on a 2017 post by THIS blogger

Above is on point for her plan but mine will be plain and straight across instead of in rows.

I plan now to finish that poorly written AND made quilt top and pack it away until we are moved then machine stitch it and quilt it by domestic vintage Singer 319w machine :)

I hope you will follow along as I piece the new quilt for my honey to enjoy this coming autumn as Kentucky is a bit cooler in winter than we are... we are looking near Bowling Green area  and Cave City atm!

I have made slow and steady progress on the quilt I am hand quilting.  I am on the last block in this row...

I should complete this block and the right side stitching today and roll the quilt ... YAHOO!  Linking this progress in hand quilting this quilt with Kathy's Slow Sunday Stitchers HERE <<< ... the next roll completes the CENTER of this quilt!!! :)

My back is beginning to slow me down again... I shall call my doctor this week and see what his plan is.... I am soooo tired of sitting on heat and doing stretches and working on core stregthening when the pain just returns!  It is arthritis the spine doctor said and nothing can really be done but exercise stretching and medications.... grrrr.  Please pray or send happy thoughts for a better answer for me long term!

Have a blessed week ahead my quilty friends!

Happy March!

Welcome to my blog!  Grab a cuppa something yummy and come on in... see what we are up to!

JOY remains my word of the year and I am finding sew much joy in each day I am living without back pain~  I am still pain FREE!!!!  No medications needed either!  YAY :D

I found this meme on Facebook I saved it for Y'all to enjoy a nice good morning... got that cuppa???! lol

Here is a quilt I would like to make!  It is a 9 patch on point and only 2 blocks make it but when you stand back the edges seem to have a scalloped feel to them :)  I have my own ideas on a border I think theirs is too busy.... but then I love a custom quilted border too! lol

Connie got me this little tin of hand cream...  I use it 2 to 3 times a day to manage my right middle finger discomfort...
Here are the needles and some o the threads I am using on this quilt... A great friend turned me on to DMC needles and I will search high and low and update to a fresh needle only when needed as they don't break easy and they do have a bit of a bendability to them... I use the size 7 for the 12 wt on the left of Aurifil... and #9 size for the 28 wt on the right... I don't use 50 wt thread to hand quilt because it wears too easily for this job.
Here is where I was after blogging last weekend...
Here a long view
and the other end of the inner border is done in short order....
Soon the quilt was rolled!
I reached a point for Connie to make a decision on what color the roses were and she chose the cream I found in my stash of 12 weight Aurifil!!  Yipee :)  The green is the inner border color of quilting and I thought the roses needed to be different!
Here are a couple pics of the first block before the center criss crossed canoes shape was stitched...
The DMC perle cotton in black was in the mail from Connie's stash for this quilt!
The cream roses look delectable.... the chalk you could see above just helps me stitch without the lines going away.
See... this block now has the criss cross canoes center shape stitched!
Here's the 3 blocks bottom half all stitched....
And here is where the 4th sits as I work on it today and hope to roll the quilt and work on the top half of these blocks...
Linking all this hand quilted goodess and other fun things to Kathy's slow Stitching Sunday crew! HERE<<<<<<
Here is a modernish quilt I am in love with!  I will show it to my dil and see if they may like this quilt next year :D
Here is a sweet lamb and some pretty spring flowers and a chik too!  Do you have flowers coming up???  Or do you live down under and yours are full on or fading a bit?
We have buttercups, crocus, tulips and iris we planted last autumn that are sprouting but only the buttercups have bloomed!  We don't get much direct sun in our yard though so it makes plant and flower production a bit low.

Have a fabulous week and be joyful and kind to someone this week :)  I sure will!

Back in the Saddle Y'all!

Sew happy to be greeting you this week with a fresh perspective 😄

Look at these pics from our front yard too!!!

While getting photos this week in the yard... we enjoyed 3 full days of open windows and doors.... NO HEAT.... NO A/C!!!!  It is the craziest February we can recall in recent years...

Because the weather was delightful did make my back pain recovery more doable!  I see a spine specialist in Chattanooga where my knee surgeon is... in a few weeks to look at my CT scan and give me his opinion on options.  I had to go to me primary care's office this week still having 5/10 pain consistently unrelieved with the medications from the emergency room.... the doctor had his nurse give me a shot in the hip that is holding me over MUCH better even than what they gave me prior!  So as I write this I pray my pain remains a 1/5 like is my current normal pain level.  Unreal!

Meanwhile ... with the house open to the mountain breezes and a mani becoming desparate... Solar Flare took the place of hearts from my Valentine's mani....

Molly got a home groom and bath and brush out this week!  She lost about 5 pounds of hair 😂

And... Surprise!!!
I finished the buttonhole stitching!!!!  This week I will mail the blocks to Connie and when she has a few minutes here and there ... she can work on finishing the crochet around them based out of that buttonhole stitch :)  I am mega proud of this accomplishment and that I have rested my back so intensely!  While still moving every hour to keep my muscles moving!

Then THIS HAPPENED!!!!!

This quilt jumped out of it's box and DEMANDED to be loaded on my lonely Hinterberg Frame!!!!
The backing was pressed... the batting was fluffed.... the flimsy rested while all was bustling about them poof!!!!
The frame was filled once more!  Above is my set up and below you can see the first view of the quilt that will see us through this future move.  We are feeling stronger with this action!
Readers, thread, stencils, needles, marking pens and pencils, thimbles and iPad prepared...
This flimsy was made in full by my bestie Connie.... She had a kit ... next week I can find out more for you if you are interested in this pattern to make yourself.... I think it was an older pattern though!  Moda :)
And first stitches too!
Above you will see I dove in stitching on the inner quilt area of black background.... Connie is gonna quilt the outermost border in black big stitch.... meanwhile I get to quilt all the center area... and am I gonna have FUN!
Linking the SUPER DUPER HAND PROJECT mega week to Kathy's Slow Sunday Stitcher's... come see and Link up too with a photo or instagram or blog post :D  HERE <<<<<
Come along with me in future weeks as we inhale our last spring living in these mountains!
And something FUN to Quilt!

2 week Update... Sew much to share!
