Happy April 2023!!!

Hi Y'all!  Thanks for visiting my little spot in this grand universe of ours!

Well... many of you have been asking.... and we haven't tried to hold back but first realtor we let in the doorway.... listed our home!!!
She convinced us it was ready for photos and boy did she do a GREAT job with just her iphone!!!
I wish you could see the photo of my sewing room...  She took a photo of leaving the room and seeing the hall and laundry!!! lol  So I had to clean that a bit so it was open for others to see!

And look how neat the living room is!

And our bedroom refreshed too!

So with contracts signed and showings happening... I sewed and stitched!

First I finished the center of this quilt...
Then after thinking I had PLENTY of fabric for the outer border...the fabric that has never found just the right home.... did with only this much left over!
And the finished Thunder & Lightening quilt flimsy!!!!
Options for backing.... I have ordered batting so when I layer it up I will try to get a pic of the final decision and how I laid it out and stitched it! lol
In the midst of stitching.. we got an offer on our cabin OVER the asking price and to include most of our furniture... not my frame or sewing room though! lol  We prefer this kind of moving because we can choose a new base to add our vibe to once we find new digs!

So now we start the inspection and appraisal process ... they have 2 weeks from last Friday to do that and make a final decision...

Meanwhile I quilt...
And roll!!!....
A full on above and a side view on my frame with my chair light and extras on the rolling table...
Now to finish the top half and stitch some rosettes :)
So slow stitching is what you will find me doing today... besides daydreaming about the future that faces us in Southern KY... Linking this hand quilting relaxation to Kathy's Slow Sunday Stitchers HERE<<<<  It is simply a place to share your hand and needle work online for all to enjoy :)

I did order a Civil War era neutral and these 2 1/2" strips to make a quilt for my honey he will enjoy !!!
This center...
With this border incorporated or some version of it!
So stay tuned for next Sunday to see what I can share or have done... no extra packing stuff yet!  We must remain vigilant for showings in the future!  Ah the joys of moving!

The Last Post for March 2023 ?!!

Wow!  Good morning.. but what happened to March??? lol  Do you feel this way too?

In some ways ... with the crazy weather the last month or so... I'm glad to see it go... but how did it happen so quickly???

What is your favorite thing about Spring/Autumn?

I personally LOVE Spring in the USA now for sleeping with windows open when it won't get so cold!  I also love seeing fresh flowers popping all around!

We are rolling closer to listing our cabin.  We found (WE THINK ANYWAY.. LOL) a realtor who will represent us well.  We are looking at mid April... right after Easter when people will be getting antsy to explore the area we live in... it is huge to hike in the mountains and have vacation homes in this area... so we shall see!

The quilt for Rick I was building wound up not working out as nicely as I had imagined... I have chatted in depth with my inner circle but I know my problems and have cried it out and am ready to move forward with this issue now... new quilt ... the PATTERN figured out.... no triangle points to chop off...

and the recipe for THIS quilt block was found on Pinterest by my bestie and originally shown on a 2017 post by THIS blogger

Above is on point for her plan but mine will be plain and straight across instead of in rows.

I plan now to finish that poorly written AND made quilt top and pack it away until we are moved then machine stitch it and quilt it by domestic vintage Singer 319w machine :)

I hope you will follow along as I piece the new quilt for my honey to enjoy this coming autumn as Kentucky is a bit cooler in winter than we are... we are looking near Bowling Green area  and Cave City atm!

I have made slow and steady progress on the quilt I am hand quilting.  I am on the last block in this row...

I should complete this block and the right side stitching today and roll the quilt ... YAHOO!  Linking this progress in hand quilting this quilt with Kathy's Slow Sunday Stitchers HERE <<< ... the next roll completes the CENTER of this quilt!!! :)

My back is beginning to slow me down again... I shall call my doctor this week and see what his plan is.... I am soooo tired of sitting on heat and doing stretches and working on core stregthening when the pain just returns!  It is arthritis the spine doctor said and nothing can really be done but exercise stretching and medications.... grrrr.  Please pray or send happy thoughts for a better answer for me long term!

Have a blessed week ahead my quilty friends!

An Empty Frame & Painting! Exciting times :)

Hi Y’all  and happy Sunday & only a week until Christmas!
It has been busy around here preparing for the frigid temps and this morning it is 27 degrees!
Rick has been painting and painting outside!
See that outbuilding???

Painted now!

See under the deck area???

Painted now!!!

All that remaining wood will be sorted into 2 piles … usable and need to trash.  You can't burn pressure treated wood as the remains have arsenic and can be deadly!
We will be renting a trash dumpster next month for all our trash needs !
My honey did all that painting with only 2 gallons of paint and has 1/2 gallon of that left over for touch ups!!!

As for me....

I finished the ornaments by Monday morning ...

and delivered them… all 21 on Monday around lunch after another appointment :)

No pictures were taken though after construction was complete unfortunately.... I gifted them in a brown bag and now I need to finish up a pillow for her from her husband’s shirts as well as a bed runner because there are so many pieces remaining I want them in a usable piece like keeping her feet warm at night 💕

The next news is that hand quilting my moms quilt ...
included these sweet applique butterflies made of lace....

I put them in each corner of the top of the quilt :)

Tah Dah!!!!
And it was complete as of Friday night late…
Saturday I got the binding sewn on ...

and started on stitching it down...
Today that is where you’ll find me!  Linking this progress to Kathy's Quilts HERE <<<  Come see all the fun stuff being done BY HAND with needle & thread, hooks and needles, cotton and linen and wool included :)

Do you have a favorite Christmas movie???

We have Hulu and Roku channels for tv viewing :)  Your comment below on what your fave is would be great.... we used to always watch Christmas Vacation with Chevy Chase but I need something fresh now!

I hope you are able to throttle things down and enjoy this Holiday season
Look at our Fireplace decor this year!

Do you have a favorite of the 2 pictures above???  I like the second one better :)

This is a jelly roll Sizzle quilt that is a free pattern from the Fat Quarter Shop and the outer border is an addition that is also a free download from Pat Sloan!  It just looks like a fun make... and the FQS pattern comes in a multitude of sizes :)
I hope to have a fun quilt area to display year round fun in our next home :)
Spread that kindness around this season and always... Thanks for stopping in and finally I'll close with my $1 find at a local thift shop....

My word for 2023!!!!  In a framed and matted way!!!!  I am sew excited to hang this up in our home to come as a reminder to keep Joy in my heart ALWAYS!!!!  For the rest of this year I will Focus, though, on the Present things to be done!
